How to Download Smule Songs (Complete Guide)
Guides · Smule Downloader
Smule is built for singing, not for saving: the app gives you no download button, and free accounts do not even keep old recordings forever. This guide covers the whole process of getting your performances out — link, format, device quirks — in about two minutes of reading.
Step 1: Copy the right link
Open the performance in the Smule app (or smule.com), tap Share and choose Copy link. The link looks like smule.com/recording/… or a short smule.com/p/… URL — both work. The performance must be public: private recordings are visible only to their owner, and no external tool can (or should) read them.
Step 2: Paste it in the downloader
Go to the Smule Downloader, paste the link in the box and press Download Now. In a few seconds you get the performance with its cover image and two choices: video (MP4) or audio.
Step 3: Choose video or audio
- MP4 video — the performance as it plays in the app, lyrics overlay included. Best for sharing a duet or watching on a TV. Details: Smule video downloader.
- Audio — just the sound, in a file a fraction of the size. Best for keeping your takes or listening in the car. Details: Smule to MP3.
Where the file ends up
Android: in the Downloads folder — open the Files app or your browser’s download list. iPhone: Safari saves to the Files app (tap the blue arrow in Safari to watch progress); from Files you can move a video into Photos with Share → Save Video. PC/Mac: the regular Downloads folder.
Why you should back up your songs now
Smule’s free tier removes old recordings over time — many singers discover this only when a favourite duet is already gone. If years of takes live on your profile, spend an evening saving the ones that matter. Your future self will thank you. If something fails along the way, the troubleshooting guide covers the usual causes.
